Therapy for Anxiety

Anxiety is a crippling force that moves through your body in three pathways: the smooth muscles, your digestive tract, and your striated muscles (muscles you can voluntarily contract and control, as in breathing, or clenching your hands or legs). It can cause fuzzy thinking or make you lose focus, interfering with your cognitive thinking. As a therapist for anxiety, I can teach you to have control over it and to find new clarity so anxiety no longer rules your life.

I offer therapy services for anxiety virtually throughout California and in-person in Palo Alto, near Stanford, Berkeley, and the Portola Valley. I invite you to contact me to learn more.

Therapy for Depression

Depression is characterized as a low mood. You might feel really poorly about yourself, lack confidence or motivation, or want to “hide under the covers” from life. When you join me for therapy for depression, we will look together at the source of your depressed mood and aim to uncover ways you have been turning your feelings about external problems back on yourself. As we explore refocusing your feelings outward in the world appropriately, you will begin to gain a new clarity, the depression will lift, and you will find new freedom from the suffering caused when you turned your upset back onto yourself.

Therapy to Help Navigate Relationships

People surround our lives. As we navigate the world, we often find it difficult to navigate relationships with those we love and care about, and with those in the work environment. I can help you learn to understand the relationships in your current life. By linking that understanding to what happens in the therapy setting and also in what has happened in your past, we can work to heal unresolved relationship issues and work towards more open, honest, and caring relationships — with yourself as well as with others.

FAQs

  • If you are struggling with your emotions, want to talk things through with someone confidentially who will listen without judgment, and want to learn what is or isn’t an issue to worry about, then therapy may be right for you.

  • Together we would define your goals for therapy, which in turn would affect the length of treatment. The length of therapy relates to the issues or concerns you want to address. It could take one session or many for you to feel better enough to “graduate” from treatment. This is something we would regularly discuss along the way.

  • Through therapy, you will notice feeling better, happier, and more satisfied in your life. You will feel more love and connection with those around you. We will work to remove the internal barriers to success and to achieve more serenity and peace in your life.

  • I am an out-of-network provider for insurances. Those with an insurance that offers out-of-network benefits may be able to receive reimbursement for sessions. I will provide you with a master bill, which has the necessary requirements so that you can receive reimbursement for services.

Be sure to contact your insurance provider to request more specific information about your plans reimbursement rate, deductible and mental health coverage. I may appear in-network for your insurance plan.

Some questions you could ask your insurance company:

    • Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health coverage?

    • If so, what percentage is covered?

    • Do I have a deductible? What is it and how much of it have I met?

    • What is the co-pay for a session if I see an out-of-network provider?

    • How do I submit a request for reimbursement?

  • More Flexibility: With private pay, there’s no need to wait for insurance approval or worry about pre-authorizations. You can start therapy whenever you're ready.

Complete Confidentiality: Without involving your insurance provider, your therapy sessions remain entirely private and confidential.

Freedom to Explore: Private pay removes the limits insurance can place on your care, like session numbers or types of therapy. This means we can focus on what’s best for you, without restrictions.

A Focus on You: With fewer administrative hurdles, we can stay focused on what matters most: your growth and healing. You’ll have the freedom to prioritize your well-being.

  • I’m happy to discuss my private pay session rates with you directly. I’m committed to finding a plan that works for your needs and your budget.

If you have any questions about the private pay process, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here to help you every step of the way as we work together to support your well-being.

  • A Good Faith Estimate is part of the No Surprises Act (H.R. 133) that took effect on January 1, 2022. This law applies to all health care providers and is intended to prevent consumers from receiving unanticipated medical bills.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
